The Elgin Valley Fox Trot is celebrating its 34th year! This event offers races for all levels of competition, including a 10 mile run, a 5k run and a 2 mile fun walk for the entire family. The race is endorsed by the Chicago Runners Association (CARA).
5k and 10 Mile Information
The race, which historically draws over 2,000 runners, has a loyal following of participants and volunteers, as well as on-lookers who line the neighborhood streets to cheer on the runners. Runners look forward to a challenging course (course link), which begins in the Centre City area, and takes them through beautiful historical neighborhoods. The 10 Mile Run also winds through the very scenic and ravines of Trout Park Fen and Lords Park.
SPECIAL NOTE: Walking the course is not permitted! Roller Blades, strollers, dogs, bikes and skateboards are not allowed on the race course.
ENTRY FEES: All proceeds from the Elgin Valley Fox Trot cover the expenses of the races and help fund portion of Youth Scholarship Fund. Donations & pledges are separate.

MASSAGES: Elgin Community College School of Message Therapy will provide free massages to runners following the race in the Registration Tent.
SHOWERS: Showers are available at The Centre from 9am to 11am. Please bring your own towel!
REFRESHMENTS: Fresh Fruit, beverages, and an assortment of refreshments will be available following the race.

Elite Corral
New this year! An “elite corral” will allow the top 10 woman and the top 10 males from last year’s race to start at the beginning by the start line. These men and woman will be given a special sticker on his/her bib and will be recognized prior to the race.
Cash Prizes and Awards
Weather permitting, the awards ceremony will be outside underneath a large tent with a post party. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each age division, and the top overall male and female finishers. Award divisions for the 10 mile and 5k races will be as follows: age 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-59, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & over, male and female. Overall winners will be excluded from age group awards.
New this year! In addition to a trophy, the overall and top three male and female winners will receive a cash prize. Overall winners will not be excluded from the top male/female cash awards. All cash prizes will be mailed out within 90 days of the final race results and there will be paperwork involved. Please see below for the breakouts:

2 Mile Family Fun Walk
In addition to the 5k and 10 mile competitive races, a 2 mile family fun walk will be offered. This 2 mile walk is a great opportunity for the whole family to create their own team and walk together to help raise money for any of the participating charities. The walk course starts at the Civic Center, continues down to the library through our beautiful river walk, and over Walton Island. The fee is $10 per person or $30 for a family of 4. Registration fees are the same for early registration as the are on event day, however, sign-up after May 14th and t-shirts are available only while supplies last.
SPECIAL NOTE: Running the course is not permitted! Roller Blades, dogs, bikes and skateboards are not allowed on the race course. Adults with children in strollers are invited to participate in the back of the walking group.

Corporate Challenge
The corporate challenge is a great way to raise awareness of a company to our participants and also help raise funds for local charities. $175 fee for or a corporation to register for the 2 mile fun walk which allows 25 participants. $500 for or a corporation to register for 5k/10 mile races which allows 20 participants. Registration for the corporate challenge must be made through the Special Events Department located at City Hall in the City Manager Office or by calling (847) 531 – 7056.
Packet Pick-up
Packet Pick-up will take place on Sunday, May 29th from 10am – 3pm or on race day from 6:30am – 8am at the Civic Center lot; 150 Dexter Court, Elgin, IL 60120.
